Stop. Breathe. Just be.
This is a day to pray and to play.

On this day I pray.
I refocus my attention on God.
I stop, breathe, contemplate
what God is up to -
God lets the sun rise for all people,
God waters the plants and gives the growth,
God feeds all the earth - without my help.

I stop, breathe, hear
that I am not God,
that I am God's beloved
no matter what.

On this day I play.
I refocus my attention on people -
particularly the people around me.
I stop, breathe, contemplate
what they are up to.
I hear my Hannah sing her favorite song.
I go for an extra nature walk with Joyce.
I chat away with my son Abe on the bed.

I stop, breathe, hear
that we are given to one another as a gift,
that we are all connected to one another
no matter what.

I give thanks to God for Sabbath.
It keeps me human,
beautifully made in the image of God.
On this day I pray and play.
