Why, Lord, this yoke? 
I am discouraged. 
Chronically difficult people are attacking me, 
waiting for me to fall.
It's not easy. 

Why, Lord, this yoke? 
I am afraid.
Another test result says something's going on.
It's one thing after another.  
It's not easy.

Why, Lord, this yoke? 
I am tired and weary. 
I thought I did my best,
but my children seem so far away from you.
It's not easy.  

My child, Jesus says, 
my yoke is easy,
not because it's comfortable, 
but because you're yoked to me,
and I carry most of the weight. 

My child, Jesus says, 
my yoke is good,
not because it's pleasant, 
but because it helps you stay close to me.

My child, Jesus says, 
my yoke is necessary,
because it enables you to be with me 24/7,
so naturally becoming a "little" Christ,
not an "on-the-spot" imitator.

So share my yoke with me.
Learn from me moment-by-moment. 
And you will find rest for your soul.
