Houlton Riverfront Park (May 2022)
Where is my joy?
Each morning I look out the window.
No mail.
Still I anxiously open my mailbox. Just in case.

Where is my joy?
Throughout the day I keep checking my calendar.
No schedule. Other than doctor's appointments.
Empty squares march through across the calendar.

Where is my joy?
Even in laughter my heart sorrows.
Emptiness rushes to the shore of my heart -
waves after waves.

Lord, when my life seems insignificant,
remind me that I am still precious in your sight.

Lord, you saw me before I was born.
You made me fearfully and wonderfully.
You are still shaping me.

Every day of my life is your gift.
Every moment of my life was all laid out,
before I had even lived one day.

Today I will rejoice.
My joy is in you.
