Set me free from the fetters of my thoughts.

May I be more like Barabbas,
who was chosen over Jesus to be released,
who lives a borrowed life.

May I be more like Bartimaeus,
who was blind and cried out to Jesus, "Have mercy on me!"
who knows his blindsind.

May I be more like Nicodemus,
who came to see Jesus at night,
who is constantly seeking and learning.

May I be more like Lazarus,
who was a beggar at the gate,
who thinks of others as better than himself.

May I be more like Christ,
who was with each of them - gentle and lowly,
I too am sinful, blind, ignorant, wretched.

May I always trust, always hope, always endure.
O God, set me free from my fetters.
